Post subject:  ID this old 2 stroke?

My boss brought this in the other day. It's off his old go-kart he had back in the 60's. He thinks it's an Indian, I know it's not, but there are no brand names or manufacturers marks anywhere except the flywheel. The flywheel says "Wico Electric Co" but the internet says that Wico is just the magneto manufacturer(apparently they made them for lots of people). The head, cylinder, and crankcase are all one piece. Anyone have any idea what this motor is and who made it? Thanks for the help.

I don't know if it's any help , but in the early seventies we used Briggs and Stratton Cement Mixer and Lawn Mower engines in Karts and the one piece construction is the sort of thing used in those products

McCulloch and West Bend dominated the small kart racing engines in the early 60's.

My brother in law had a Harley golf cart and the engine looked identical to this one.

It would be hard to hydrolock that engine.

That looks just like the engine I had in my mini-bike. I got it from an old Jacobson reel type lawn mower. Carb was different but in the same place. If it has a metal reed valve I'm sure that's it. Here is a link to a 1949 version.

All our old mowers had oil bath air cleaners like that. It brings back memories.

My grandfather taught me how to use a mower with one just like that when I was about 7. That was 45 years ago, we are getting old guys. :o

Hmm...Not a Jacobson or Harley golf cart. All of those I found have removable heads and cylinders. Could it be from an outboard?
