I've been trying to coax the wife into learning to ride for years. The CT125 makes a nice yard and field bike so I picked it up hoping she'd learn, but alas she didn't feel comfortable with the tall seat and not being able to put both feet down. Then I started looking into a cheap chinese scooter, just as a play toy for her and be something she could handle, but never followed through. I figured it would sit like the CT125.
The other day I sent her to a local shop to get a carbon fiber helmet because she has neck trouble and needed a nice light one, and when she came home she started telling me about this bike at the shop she really liked. Hmm......that's a first.
I hadn't been in the shop in a while and was meaning to go by, chat, and show him the S3, so I took a trip out. I asked him which bike she sat on so I could see what she was interested in and he said it was this little Yammi XV250. Seat was nice and low, small bike, not a big powerhouse, so I told him 'well I can see why she liked this one'. I figured that if I didnt wind up getting one she liked, I'd never get her on a bike. She's scared of the bikes I'm riding and with good reason, she'd hurt herself on them. I went ahead, processed the paperwork, and now it's home. She is excited and looks to want to follow through with the motorcycle training course and get her license. We talked for a bit and she asked him which bikes do they use for the training course, figuring it would be no use trying to take a course on a hog because she's never get on it. He says he supplies the bikes for the training course and lo and behold, he supplies them with the same bike, so basically she'll be taking the course on the same machine she'll be driving daily, a bonus.
Tags are on and it's insured, so I'm bringing it to the gap so I can find some relatively decent, empty roads so she can get some time in. I drove the thing home and it runs extremely well for a 250 twin and wasn't too pricey at all. She's going in this week and see if she can get a learner's permit. She's on her way.

I had to chuckle a little. I told her it was electric start and it didn't have a kickstart. She says 'good cause I don't think I've got enough to kick start one.'. 
Guess she didn't remember you have to let the clutch out slow in first, not try to do a burnout. 
We should be able to find some roads around Robbinsville, maybe I'll even coax her into riding up to the gap. Usually I take a day and hang out down at ground zero, then spend a day with her. She'll be with me a couple times at the gap, but probably on the back of my bike.
