The height is right, need to take out a little chain slack, wiring works (but I ohmed it all out first so I knew it was perfect).

Only thing I don't like is the slop in the two receivers - or what Chrysler calls an adapter (the one from the hitch itself) and then the regular one with the ball. End-End (top and sideways) slop is about 1/4".

Won't know if it sways at freeway speed until I load a bike on it and try - could be an expensive failure!

(maybe I'll test it with the Harley and spare the H2 if I loose it on the freeway).....

I've never used one of these removable receivers, I've always had a ball mounted directly to a bumper. I know there can be issues if the ball size is too small or other things comprising looseness and trailers will sway.

One thing I could do is weld the Ball receiver to the "adapter" to reduce a little of the issue. Receivers and balls are cheap if I ever need to do something else.

Ideas/suggestions?

I tow a trailer everyday, my draw tite receiver hitch has at least 1/4 inch slop, probably more I don't believe its an issue. Short trailers sway more than long trailers and single axle trailers bounce more than dual axle trailers.

Thanks for that, I feel a little better. For a piece of mind I'm going to bolt top and side, weld them and weld the two together. This is single purpose so no worries there.

If your balls are high carbon I don't think I'd weld on them. Mine are chrome plated.

Barry's balls are of the highest carbon content.

You can put more weight towards the tongue to keep freeway sway down. Balance the load over the axle too much and it'll be all over the place.

Any way of shimming up any of the slop? It's a small trailer, don't see it pushing you around alot. :thumbup:

I think Usernameandpassword is on the money here. When you load it up (especially with the HD) the slop will seem much less. The more weight on the tongue and hitch the sturdier it will feel. You might also check for uneven or unusual looking tire wear - that could cause weaving.

They all have slop, I never had a problem. YEARS ago, going to Demming NM for a track day, a bunch of us convoyed the 250 miles. One guy didn't have a trailer and rented one of the little ones from U haul. Well these guys are racers and I wasn't driving, the convoy averaged 100mph. That trailer was ALL OVER THE PLACE and was wagging the little import all over. 500 miles and nothing fell apart, but I wouldn't want to rent that trailer...... :wtf:
