Just clicked on a link to look at some deals gap pictures. When I went back again, I had to log in.

Dale, is it possible to adjust settings so that links open in a new window ? Most other boards have this feature, apart from ktww.

I believe that is a function that is best controlled with your browser setting.
I know it is with Firefox.

This board and the KTW board are the only boards (that I frequent) that don't open links in a new tab/window. I have my browser (FireFox) set to open in a new tab. Same results at work with IE7.

Brad's board will open a new tab if you click on a link. Check it out. This is a great thing when you are checking from an iPhone, but mostly just habit to click (regular left click) on a link. It's nice when you follow somebody's pic link to a hosting site, for example, so you don't have to keep backing up to this site. There must be a setting somewhere.

I have not admin'd a message board but I've done a few websites and at least with Dreamweaver, when I add a link there's an option to "open in new window". This is important for a website so a visitor to the site doesn't actually leave the site when a link is clicked, it opens a new tab/window.

Just sayin....

No, it isn't... but it is a major priority.
I hope everyone will be patient with the inexperience/incompetence to board problems.
They WILL get fixed!!!

How many of those affected by this problem are using AOL as a service provider?
Some service providers, AOL is one, change their IP addresses frequently and that affects remembering logins.

I have Comcast as my ISP.

I know that starting a new forum brings on a whole new "bag of worms" to deal with. I ( plus the other members ) will be patiently waiting while you figure this out.

While the annoyance of having to log in every time is minor, it is pale compared to a major spam problem.

A sincere Thank You while you work thru this

Jeff

Just made a change to the board settings. Let's see if that fixes the timeouts and not allowing persistent log-ins. One step at a time.

Pictures opening in a new tab is a feature that isn't allowed by default in the new phpBB software, but it can be done. If a board was upgraded from the older version as Brad's was, then the feature stays. We started with the new version, so the feature isn't there. I found out how to make the change, but I have to take the board down temporarily to do it. I'll do that sometime in the next few days (one morning when I happen to wake up at 4)
