I've seen that vid before. I am intrigued by the mono-wheel design but this guy is obsessed with V-8 power. Plus you need aircraft active controls to handle stability and braking. What kind of fool rides an experimental vehicle that has no brakes without wearing full leathers, helmet, boots, gloves, cup, etc???? ![]() |

McClean has been hurt on that stupid thing. I fail to see the purpose......other than him just having some fun. |

How in the world you would handle any real braking on that thing is beyond me. There's nothing for the wheel to push back against except for the weight of the engine and yourself. |

That thing has a smaller V8 in it, either a 1961 thru 1963 all aluminum Buick 215 cu/in, OR, Rover all aluminum V8, a clone of the Buick engine, from 215 cu/in, to 4.6 liters. I do a lot of these engines to make upwards of 375 horsepower, and they still ending up weighing between 320 to 340 lbs total. Original all aluminum 215 Buick engines made between 155 and 200 horsepower stock, depending on comp ratio, cam, and carb setups. I always have said about a 500 triple when they were the only triples we had, "A 60 horsepower, out of control unicycle.........is absolutely FUN to ride". There have been a few other designs like this single wheel one over the decades, some good, some really bad. This one seems to be one of the fun ones. |
