Back in the day I used to run my H2 on "Standard" fuel, I guess it was about 87 octane. Never had an issue. Fast forward to 2020 (gasp!) and I'm trying to mow the yard and surrounds with my Honda lawn mower. Like all Hondas, it's smooth and quiet and looks nice, but just needs a bit more HORSEPOWER!! So the question is...(it runs on 91 oct). if I run this thing on 98 oct. Can I mow the lawns faster and will it have more get up and go!!? It's a SOHC low compression 150cc engine, btw. (I need to keep the weeds down to control the Brown Snake population!) Pretty quiet around here lately, where is everyone!?

You need a Lawn Boy 2 cycle walk behind mower. They stopped producing them here in 2004 but they are simple, reliable, and powerful. I have 2 of them as well as a 2 cycle Toro Proline Suzuki powered mower and a Snapper 2 cycle Wisconsin Robin mower. All self propelled walk behinds. Did ya’ll get any of those in your part of the world Rod? I’ve read about an Aussie 2 cycle mower I believe by Victoria?

Hi Evan Rod carnt message back he out killing BROWN Snakes !!!!( one of the most deadly snakes in the world ), but most Aussies have a pack of them in there yards , mine come to the back door for food scrapes often , but I do try to keep them out of the house !!!, yes Victa lawn mowers were the first Rotary mower made , but no longer exist thanks to cheap imports and polution regs ,, got to go some ones at the back door , urs Al in Aus

Thanks Evans and Al, need any H2 stuff, Al? Just worried about the dogs with the snakes, Al. Oh, (Evans) 2-stroke mowers have gone the way of the 2-stroke bikes, you can still get brush-cutters, etc. tho.

I’ve heard there are more venomous critters in Aus than any other part of the world!

Did those fires ever get extinguished? That was national news sometime back.

I've only seen 3 or 4 snakes in 35 years here, it's just something you have to be mindful of, Evans. We are by the beach, and there is a bit of a nature strip between us and the beach. The fires here are gone, they were, (and will be) of a similar magnitude to the California fires, over a much greater area though.

I've been practicing, Evans. I just finished an hour's worth. I hope we get together in May. :)

I agree with Evans - I got a new LawnBoy 2 stroke 35 years ago and all I have changed is the pull cord and wheels..it's amazing. I put a little Klotz in it so I can pretend I'm on the H2.

The biggest difference will be from the type of oil you use.
