I'm on the fence about buying back a bike that I sold a year ago. The oil pump is supposed to have failed and seized the piston. A new oil pump is about 100 bucks on ebay plus I'd have to repair the cylinder/ piston damage. I have never had an oil pump fail and don't really want to go the pre mix route. Any thoughts on pump failure or could there be another issue that caused the seizure. Thanks for your opinions.

I'd guess it was not an oil pump failure... more likely a lean mixture.
But the only way to know is to pull the piston. It might be a piston replacement and hone fix???

Oil pump failure is rare, more likely a dirty carb (obstructed jets), leaking crankseal, or it was just worn out.

Thanks fellas. I've never had one go bad either. I still have a couple of small projects to finish. Pretty much talked myself out of buying this bike back.
