I told my friend Leroy one day last year that ever since I saw Easy Rider in 1969 when I was 12 I have always wanted a Captain America chopper. After the movie we all cut the forks off other bicycles and staked them on to lengthen our forks like choppers. Leroy saw this at the Mecum auction in Las Vegas in January and bought it for me as a present. There is something about this thing that I really like, almost like the circle is complete. :D

I apologize for the picture size, I don't know how to fix it.

I have a funny story about that movie. When I was going to school in CA, there were a lot of students from Europe. And they were asking about Americana type movies, so of course I thought of Easy Rider, so we went and rented it. (yes, that long ago) At the end I ask them what they thought, and every one said they had no idea what the hell was the point of the movie. LOL.

I was actually telling one of my friends that I should put a prop one in the tank. I think it would be worth a chuckle. I went through the fuel system a couple of days ago and got it running. It has an 89ci S&S engine and a Mikuni HSR flat slide with an accelerator pump(new to me). It runs very nice but is crazy loud with the straight pipes and fish tails. The starter barley got it started 3 times and then quit. Tomorrow morning the new starter will be here and I will put it in and see how bad a hard tail chopper really is. :D

I had my wife on the back tonight, does that count? I can't believe she wanted to get all scrunched up on the back of it but she did. I went through the fuel system and put a new starter/solenoid and starter relay on it today and then rode around for almost 2 hours. It has plenty of power but is the worst handling, most horrible riding bike I have ever been on but I can't get enough, I love this thing! Actually after the first half hour of getting used to it I think it handles fine except when pulling away from a stop and making a turn and then the front end wants to flop over. I can't wait to ride it tomorrow. :D
