My 13 year old medium size mix breed dog is not doing good , barely eating , only pee's no pooo, no energy just sleeps and moves from time to time, but he is not suffering and seems content , then end is near if he was suffering I'd put him down today, any thoughts

If he is not in pain and still takes love, I would wait. You can tell if he is happy to see you. You can see it in his eyes. If he is not, it might be time.

Yeah he still lights up with happiness when we come home but it's short and then back to laying around and sleep , such a bummer.

Strange thing last night he gets up goes to the kitchen stretches out on a cold hard wood floor and sleeps there all night, thats weird cause he always slept on his bed next to the pellet stove its like his spot and that cold hard wood floor could not have been comfy .

What does the Vet. say? You can only do so much for them at that stage. Lot of dogs suffer in silence.

His last checkup in early summer was fine, then cold weather monthes started and it's been downhill since , 13 is old for this size dog it's just about time over, I can't go the pull out all the treatment way, we will have to put him down soon maybe tomorrow, he is short on time thats for sure I hope he goes in his sleep on his bed.

Not much worse than saying goodbye to a Friend and a Companion, feeling it with you. You have given that dog a good life, and he has given you one. I know you'll do the best thing for him! After you say goodbye, go to the pound and rescue a puppy or even an older dog for that matter!

Its a quality of life thing, and animals do not show pain like we do. They can hide it. The one thing, and the hardest, and most important thing, is to be there with them. They know, and are scared. They need you the most then, no matter how hard it is to be with them as they leave.

Thanks all for the good advise, appreciate it  .

My youngest came home last night and stayed up with Skip early in the AM he had difficulty breathing and just faded away :( , he was happy and healthy his whole life then just three months ago a slight change , then two days ago it was obvious the end was near .

Skip 8/04 - 2/11/17 , he was a good dog healthy and happy till the end

Sorry to hear that. :( The life span of a dog is such that we might have your experience a few times in our life. If I had my time again, I'd have a farm with a hundred Australian Kelpie rescue dogs on it, beautiful animals! Will you think about another dog, after a while?
