Last Friday morning I went by several places such as Harbor Freight and NAPA looking for a puller to separate the cases on my DT250, but I could not find anything. At around 10:30 am I gave up and order the proper tools made by Tusk from Amazon. Saturday I went riding my H1. Around 12:30 I got a text message from my wife that I had some packages that arrived. I told her that I was not expecting anything. Believe it or not, with standard shipping, those tools made it from Arizona to East Tennessee 26 hours after I place the order! How in the world.....?
Good tools. Case came right apart. I am sure I will have many uses for them.

It encourages you to buy everything "Internet-order" doesn't it? Years ago I got tired of trying to support local businesses, only to find that more often than not I wasted about 1-1/2 hours on the round trip to town and the failed hunt for what I needed, and now buy almost everything from web sites. McMaster-Carr isn't the cheapest supplier, but a lot of the time it's cheaper than the Lowe's in town, even counting the shipping cost. And my McMaster-Carr "cutoff time" is 5:30 PM, so when I order before that time, the parts are usually delivered the next afternoon, often less than 24 hours later.

Lookin' good there, Steve, by the way, assuming that's a recent photo of you in your avatar.

I never did understand shipping times. I have got stuff from the other side of the country in a day or so and waited a week from something a state away.

I agree with Jim about internet ordering. Most of the time you get there and they say "oh, we can order that". Yeah, I can order it as well :banghead

I quit going to Lowe's regularly about ten years ago, when I couldn't find the 50' piece of 3/8" copper tubing I needed, and I couldn't find two 25' pieces and a coupling. When the greeter asked if I found everything I needed as I was leaving, I told him no, and that they should concentrate more on stock and less on the store repaint they were in the middle of. He said a big truck shipment was arriving the next day, and I should check back. I told him that I was going home to place an order for the tubing from McMaster-Carr, and that it would be delivered to my house by the time their shipment arrived. You'd think I had insulted his wife or something, the way he glared at me.

Sad part is its with auto and Motorcycle shops too.
It would be nice to be able to go to your local Motorcycle shop and get parts or even order parts, get to know them and have a relationship. BUT the prices are usually way above what you can order on line and you get the parts faster.

The cost of having a building with employees, insurance, lights, heat ect. leads to high prices and low stock in every business you only keep what sells fast to the average person.

It will probably change in the next few years and some places are already doing it but most of the internet orders are tax free. On higher dollar items it usually makes up for the shipping and in most cases saves you even more money.

The last few firearms I got came from online. I got the best price on them, shipping was either free or minimal, and I paid no tax. Yes I have to pay a FFL to do the transfer but any of the local shops charge you to do that as well when you buy it from them.
