Its been a long summer for me.
missed many of my vintage mx races this year....early in the season i was recovering from a work injury...no not one of those workmans comp things, just about got my finger pulled off though...I only missed a day on that one, but could not hold onto a bike for a while afterwards. Then 3 months ago, I high sided my 465 at low speed, and hurt my knee. That put me out for a while...my big toe is still numb on that side. No trip to the Dr on that one though I probably should have gone.
Then my house burned down a little over a month ago, on my birthday no less. and no it was not the amount of candles on the cake! :D
We were all out at dinner for my birthday and we got a call from my neighbor about an hour into it. A window unit air conditioner caused it.
Thank god we were all out of the house when it happened. And the insurance company has been great so far. Put us in a nice townhouse while they are fixing the old one. So no sob story, if it had to happen, it was the best way possible.

So I put my old S2 and the other bikes that were at the house into a big storage space we rented after the fire.......and this new storage place was cheaper and double the size of the one we had elsewhere.....
So I began the process of consolidating the two. It was sort of staggering seeing my collection of 2 wheeled junk all together in one place. I made it to a race this weekend, and my Brother was there. He showed up with most of an XT500 on his trailer. He was gonna put it down by the pits with a for sale sign on it. And, what do you think I did?
Yep. Bought another bike. Its a disease I swear. My Brother is a bit older than I am and has been facing some health issues. He has made the decision that he will thin out his herd, since by his own estimation, he will not ever get to working all of them, and rather than learn from that, Im going the other way......

Looking forward to the XT. It will take some time, but it ought to be a fun bike. I rode on that my buddy had all done up, it was one of those replicas of the exotic factory bikes that they made, I forget what they were called, but it had the thin tank, and way too tall suspension on it. I really did not like the way it handled, it was just too tall. Im just shooting for a stockish bike, a reliable old tractor.......

I have both the TT and SR versions of that engine bikes, like the daylights out of both. A friend not far from here has another TT, and threatens to frag it over here to get it runing. I'm gonna make HIM kick it....a lot.

Enjoy that bike, they are fun stuff.
