Since my H1 has been road worthy I've been working on this truck. It's just a plain looking 88 chevy c1500 long bed that I dropped a 454 in from a refrigerated box truck. I drove it like that for about 6 months then the trans gave out. So I decide to do a performance build on the engine while I was at it. The performance shop that did my machine work says I should get about 475hp 525tq.

This is an album of the original engine swap (10 pics with descriptions) http://imgur.com/a/6VPoZ

This is an album of the performance parts after getting them back from the shop (4 pics with descriptions) http://imgur.com/a/RsB1c

Not shown is a new comp mutha thumpr cam, aluminum intake, 800cfm quadrajet. I'm waiting on a couple things to come in the mail yet, like the intake and ring compressor. I should start putting it all together next weekend. The only thing I haven't paid for or figured out yet is getting my drive shafts shortened for the manual trans. I converted it from auto to manual. Already converted everything except the drive shafts.

Should be fun hauling the H1 to the drag strip in the back when It is all finished.

guess the truck wins against the H1 on the more gas by mile race ;)

Shortening a drive shaft is not a big job. The local steel shop does them here. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting that done. I'll look forward to the drag race results. I have a soft spot for BBC engines.

I had a few delays. The new intake is just sitting on there for the picture. I was not happy with the low quality casting of the intake and will do some port work to it before I really put it on. After that and messing with the clutch slave cylinder it will be ready to drop in. Then I still have the drive shafts to mess with. But it is coming together.

Ah...Fat Block Chevy, Porcupine, Splayed Valve, Rat engines, I LOVE 'EM. Boats, cars, all sorts of stuff need 'em, too. I've built a ton of them over the years, have a small collection of original ZL1 engines I have acquired over the years, excellent use of aluminum. The ones I like the most have funny looking belt driven high rize stuff on the top of the engine, 6/71, 8/71, Weiand, Blower Drive Service (which used to only be a mile down Washington Blvd from my house in So. Cal. Fun stuff.

I do a lot of HEI, MSD Trigger Only and EFI-HEI ignition system conversions for them, and, the small block tow truck engines.
