You don't need Monsanto because there are generic brands of glyphosate herbicide. Used motor oil works great too.

True, anti "growth" mesh underneath, but a few do get through. And L would kill me for using Round-up she hates Mansanto.

Monsanto is thought of as the devil in my parts..  If ya dont buy organic or fish and hunt for your meat.. ya may start glowing in the dark soon.. I too have an old lawnboy.. But discovered I prefer a meadow covered in wildflowers verse the traditional yard.. :) And its absolutely maintenace free.. The deer and rabbits really love it too.... :)

That looks very nice but why the red rings on the tree?

The Corps of Engineers owns the land from the lake, which averages 300 ft above sea level, to the 320 line, which is the maximum level the lake can theoretically reach. The line is marked by painted stripes on trees, and the number and location of the stripes indicate if the tree is on the line or just near it, and if there is a bend in the line at the tree. Every few years they send crews of guys around to repaint the trees. Permits are available for clearing a path to the water, boat docks, and other things I can't think of at the moment. It's very government-like. The good thing is most of the shoreline is woods, rather than houses and mowed yards. Yesterday we saw a Bald Eagle several times while eating dinner at the lake. We wondered if he was eying our hot dogs.

The purple flowers are Lyreleaf Sage in this case, John.
