I'm with you on this one John.....I too prefer to sit around and watch Gumby and friends reruns.

Being a long hair, lanky, loner, music guy that just wanted to build things and go fast, sports never interested me. I'm sure it was pretty much the same everywhere, the jocks got cut all sorts of slack, and acted "golden". Most were dumb as a rock, and most were always limping around or something was wrapped up. This was high school. In the couple of years of college I had, it wasn't much different, except they were drunk more of the time. I was forced to go to the football games in high school (band geek...

) but could never get out of there fast enough. I would rather be racing down a back road or wrenching on something. Watching guys slam into each other for hours, never made any sense to me. They literally bust their asses, and then some guy kicks a field goal and they win or lose. Then both teams get drunk, crash cars, and the schools covers it up.
Very few make the big time, the rest have a "cheater" degree, and are no smarter than they left high school. Some get crippled up, and many now have brain damage.
That's just how I see it. I know many will totally disagree, and that's cool.

And now back to the Gumby reruns and History channel 2.........
