My sister lives just outside of Colorado Springs; she flew into Toronto today and told me the devastation you can see from the air had everyone on board in tears. :(

Just got a call from Barry, is in a parking lot. He was watching the reports on TV and the mayor came on and said to get the hell out of there. Barry said winds kicked up to 55mph and it was Dante's inferno, got black quick with embers everywhere. He is in a safe place. He took the old truck and it kept stalling in the traffic that was really bad.

He is freaking of course, and is feeling bad not taking the H2. So keep good thoughts going for him and Liz....

Thanks for the update, John. I'm hoping that since the immediate area around his house doesn't have a lot of dense trees, it'll be OK. Maybe a C130 will drop a load of that orange-ade on his roof.

My house in here. The pictures are not fuzzy - smoke that thick. 15 mins all we had from nothing to flames dropping around us, smoke and ash so thick you can't see, traffic crawling with the road around you on fire. It was like something from Dantes Peak - fricking HAIRY getting out and yes, I screwed up not loading the H2.... At a friends house - it will be many days before we can go back...

Just watched the national news and the Waldo Canyon fire is awful. I spent 32 years fighting fire in my county but never saw anything as wicked as that fire. With a 55mph wind as was reported this morning in the news - any efforts to stop that fire would not be enough. Hoping for the best for Barry and all the folks of CS.
