I started with mopeds (50 cc) like most europeans. At the age of 15 i got my first motorbike, a 125 KTM Penton which i used to jump on all motocross tracks whenever possible. Lots of bruses and broken brake/clutchlevers but i do not count those as crashs.
First, a real (and so far most serious) was at the age of 17, on my first H2. The year was 1974 and i was performing a wheelie to my friends (and a buch of gals), unluckily it was after rain and when the front wheel landed and i started to brake there was a big puddle before the end of the driveway where i was supposed to turn. And at the end were several trees and i hit one of them, or actually the bike stopped to one of them and luckily i passed the tree.
The bike was on part payment scheme so i had to have the full coverage insurance which took care of the repair costs.
It was all fixed but probably that was the moment i started to think all the dangers of driving motorcycles. And it only strenghtened my will to ride H2:s.

Been trying to ignore this one! 1969, Gold Suzuki T500, new girlfriend on back - car tuned right (left to most of you) into me at major intersection, relatively minor injuries (for hitting a car) but the bike was a mess, tho they actually fixed it! Girlfriend stayed around for 4 years, and the payout fixed the bike, and paid for a new red '70 H1!! The rest, as they say, is history! (Is there a crying emoticon? ) Oh yeah, that was in the days before full-face helmets were around, I bit my lip big-time!!

I was on a 1976 Honda Cb200 (speed was not a factor). This took place in Massachusetts, where stop signs are merely suggestions. I was driving at about 30 mph when a female driver approached and promptly blew through a stop sign intersecting the road I was traveling on. This happened about 20 feet in front of me and she had her head turned the opposite way. Never looked! I had enough time to think "Ohh Sh..." and smashed the front of her car. Somehow I got clear of the bike and car and launched right over the hood of the car and landed in the road on the other side. I was only scraped up, but the worst part- she got out of her car and started screaming at me for speeding, driving like a maniac, etc. That day was a true test for me

Late '80's. Riding my very first motorcycle bout 6 months after I got it. Was a '76 KH400 and she would scream to 70 and back to zero in an eighth of a mile which was the length of the street behind my apartment. Beautiful sunny spring day after a night of rain and I was maker the bike scream... never saw the light layer of sand that had washed over the road just short of my stopping point. I don't remember hitting the ground :( but i do remember sliding for a good ways with my foot trapped between the bent peg and the engine. :banghead :banghead Next time was on a cb450, taking a corner that bike had no business taking.

First crash was around 1969 or 70 on a Yamaha twin jet 100 with an electric starter, nice bike top out at 98 my first bike with expansion chambers - the crash was learning wheelies.

After I grew up (I think I grew up) I got the triple, the pics below- 72 H2. Tim is currently doing bead blast on the cases, Dave recently did the crank and the forks are coming from Jessbikes.com (Jessbike was quick I paypal last night and this morning around 7:50 it was shipped...try that on ebay!).

Nevertheless, the crash below was around late 1972 in Houston, TX and I got the ticket, the officer drove to the hospital to write it out. It was my fault and I never got a chance to cross the intersection! I was going in the direction of the parked police car. This crash was not to be my last...

I used to ride a few dirtbikes when I was a kid. The very first bike I had, a 71 SL125, was the first bike I laid down. I was riding in the woods and decided to try this one hill. I had tried it a few times but the bike didn't have enough a** to take it. This day I decided to hit it as hard as I could and see if I could finally get it. I had that thing wound tigheter than an 8 day clock, hit the hill, just when I was about to reach the top, the bike ran out of a** again and I couldn't get it swung around when it started rolling back from the trees. The bike and myself went down, slid all the way down the hill and both fell into a 5 foot deep creek trench we had built a bridge across so we could climb the hill. It sure did hurt but it taught me a leson not to push my luck again with that hill.
