I'm cheap as much as I'm critical so I use the beam type. It's also the most accurate or at least the most direct way to measure torque... Providing you don't have the shakes that is. :lol:

I've read that the high end beam type are very accurate for the inch/lb types.
Have also read / found that the cheapy beam types are horrible.

Ironically the Harbor Freight 1/2" is reported to be very accurate although they ship plenty of known working units.
I think I will keep my Armstrong gauge type and then find a decent (Craftsman or better) 20 - 50 ft/lb clicker and be able to check one against the other.
It's amazing how sensitive the torque is with the gauge and you can see it move very gradually as opposed to just a click.
