There is also the "filthy few". The guys who where that patch. Avoid eye contact and leave the room. :shifty:

A 3 patch club need permision from the local presidents coalision to exist in their town. You also have to be mindful where your going with your colors on.If your traveling through a town where the governing club isn't frendly with the governing club from your town guys will take their colors off rather than have a hassle.
As for the full face helmet thing it makes them harder to id.The local ha has been doing this for a long time.

If I recall the correctly the 1% was started by an one of the Jap maker's that only 1% of "bikers" or motorcylists were "bad guys" so the hard core bikers and bike clubs took this on as a merit of pride "being a 1% er " Funny though I dont thing that the real "1%ers" actually call themselfs that.

Heard the same except the source was the AMA (American Motorcycle Association) and that the true 1% are proud of that label.....

When I was a youngster. No one owned a harley w/o either risking having it taken away,or belonging to a club. Was'nt till the mid 70's could anyone own a harley and not worry bout losing it to a local club..I could go on and on with biker storys..Crazy stuff!! The most impressive thing I ever saw. was hanging at one of our local parks, There was an abrubt railroad crossing in front of park. a couple of harleys came along doing at least 60 mph hardtail pans of course.. They flew a good 100 ft. right alongside of each other. How they kept control with long springers and hardtails still baffles me..

A VERY long story, in fact too long to write here, but a couple of years ago when an "immigation" officer at New York asked me what I did for a living? and I replied "I buy and sell old motorcycles", He asked, "How do you find these motorcycles", I replied, "I have run a motorcycle club for 30 years" - He asked "Who has sanctioned you to be here in the States?" . . . Huh :eh: , "I have NO clue what you mean"

Back when I had my old Norton Commando, Harley riders would welcome it. It was all thumbs up. So why the anti Japanese? Because they're fast? (The Japs bombed PEARL HARBOR, yes...And the English once OWNED US!) Three years ago, I bought an H2 to Daytona for bike week and while I was out at the Cabbage Patch, Some one kicked it over and smashed it up pretty badly. An anonymous bad ass.......

You were lucky.

When I lived in Flagstaff, there was a cinder pit where it was not uncommon to find one or more beat up, shot up and burned out Japanese motorcycles.

I remember walking into a bar north of Flag, and there was a ratty looking old Harley with a shotgun mounted in a holder, as well as a pistol.
