Funnily enough I read last year when I was in the States that over 1 million pounds worth of US flags are imported every year, now that is food for thought

As long as the Poles buy as much British stuff as the Brits buy Pole stuff, then you're working together. It's when it gets unbalanced that you get into trouble. I have a feeling the US buys more Chinese stuff than China buys US stuff. :(

I don't think the Polish buy much of us Brits, most of them are here anyway buying from Polish shops, having building work done by other Polish immigrants and if they do employ others there Polish too, I don't believe they contribute much here

I thought the Chinese were re-investing their foreign income heavily back into the US economy, creating a bit of danger for the future about how much of it they will own.

I just always wondered if the Chinese products sold in China are on the same par with Chinese goods sold here.

Not to be a shrub hugger, but seriously it ought to be a crime the way they waste raw materials making plastic garbage my wife buys that I throw away when she's not home to make room in my tiny house. A few hundred years from now the fact oil was squandered on making happy meal toys and stupid cupcake holders that fit no where in my kitchen....... Let's just say it'll be worse than that commercial where the Indian is crying in the park full of litter we all grew up with.

When I sold repro antique Ford Parts.
One of our little manufacturers made mirrors and chrome plated them in his shop in NC
He called to say that he would still make the mirrors but that they would be plated in China; dealer cost was the same
To plate chrome per EPA standards is expensive
To throw away the plating bath in the gravel parking lot costs nothing other than health issues and water pollution

No intention to start bad manufacturing or political vibes but this really did happen; at least the guy was able to move the few men affected to work other areas in his shop and not lay them off

I bought my mill-drill from them a few years ago. It was rated really well for the cost vs functionality.

As much as I try not to buy from China sometimes I do - but at least I make the effort not to. We almost NEVER buy Walmart. We ALWAYS check label of manufacture but even then you need to be careful. It might say "assembled" in America but parts made in China.

We try and buy local, we try and buy made in america. I make the effort even if it costs more it's worth it.

I also do woodworking/furniture making as a hobby. When buying my band saw, I wanted one made in the USA. No dice. I could not find one. That to me was a bit scary. I settled on a Rikon made in Taiwan.

I too try to do the “right thing” when I can. I avoid Lowes and Home Depot and patronize a True Value hardware store a few miles down the road from me for all of my lumber and hardware needs. I am sure everyone here has that little Ma and Pa hardware store in town that they would be lost without. It is a family owned/run business with excellent customer service and expertise. It does cost a few more $$$, but it is worth it.

My lift table has been holding my bike up for a couple years now. I looked at an american table and the price was just too much besides with a coupon there only 300 bucks. The only prob with HF is you leave with an armfull of stuff and how can the dollar store call themself a dollar store when you leave spending a hundred or two. I am glad they excist cause years ago some
selfish bastard stole my double wide snap on box full of goodies and what did the shop insurance cover even with picture and proof. The max witch was 10 grand witch I had to share with someone else. You want frightening go on a tool truck if you want to be able to enjoy your wallet HF or sears.
