Thanks for all the info Barry, lots of miles on your truck. My folks live in Colorado and I see old pickups in nice shape every time we visit.
We are thinking about moving to Colorado, that's my first choice but the wife wants to stay in Ca. close to the kids. The old Power Wagons
where real popular in N.H. where I grew up. I need a truck that can go freeway speeds but be able to go off road too. It might
just get a old 50's or 60's truck and put it on a modern running gear. I grew up in the mountains and hate it here in So cal. so much,
traffic everywhere and government taxing you to death. Try to start a small business here is impossible.

Always like the old Bronco's but really need a pickup to move bikes around. Never been a fan of pulling a trailer.

I hear you on the trailer but they are easy to load and come in handy around the farm. I think paid about 600 for my 5x8 landscape trailer and I use it for lumber, dirt bikes, project bikes, etc.

I have had my Bronco for 22 years and wouldn't trade it for anything. One of the good things about old fords vs. other brands is that parts are cheap and plentiful and if you are motived you can swap in a 5.0 or 5.8 SEFI for next to nothing.

Where are you moving to? I left cali 15 yrs ago and never looked back.

IMO, that is your best bet. It also doesn't limit you on what trucks came factory with 4x4. Just pick a year body you like and go with it.

Left Bay Area 12 years ago - NEVER going back.

PS - trailers DO have a lot of utility.

My retirement project is going to be a 1966 F100 stepside with an SEFI 5.8 (351W), AOD and an Explorer 8.8 rearend. Cheap, easy to fix, reliable, good MPG and tons of power.

If you want to go off-road the SEFI will run upside down.

Also, the early to mid 1960's Chevy snub nose cab over trucks. One made into a 4 x4 and flatbed, the other into a camper, both with the Twin 6 in them, the 702 cu/in V12.

Your right Tuner, some of the old cab overs can make a pretty cool 4x4.
