I disagree and have Lithium Batteries in more than a few vintage bikes. IMO they work great, no battery tenders, lighter weight, can be mounted any way you want, and they are always ready to go after a long winter. Yes, if you leave the key on or wire them into a parasitic situation they will die. And when they die, they die, no resurrection. With a modern rectifier/regulator available for most any vintage bike they work well and are maintenance free for our vintage steeds that may sit for long periods. If I have a battery to replace it gets a Lithium, even the lawn tractor.

I agree 1000%

Shorai is the brand I have used many times with excellent results. Honestly I have never even used their special balance charger, and never had a problem. My shorai battery is going on year 3 in my dirtbike, and even after going dead once (my fault I left it hooked up), it still recharged with a standard battery charger and works fine. They are GREAT for vintage bikes because if you unhook them, they can sit for a year and still have a pretty decent charge left in them. Leaving them hooked up to a Z1 alternator circuit will drain them dead! Very common on those older bikes for the diodes to fail and allow discharge of the battery back through the alternator.

EDIT: one thing I would like to add is that the "battery tenders" sold for traditional batteries WILL NOT CHARGE LiPo batteries! You NEED to use a real battery charger that can charge a battery up to at least 14v.

I'm using Shorai now too, and so far I think they are awesome. The one in my S3 weighs about 1lb and is so small it comes shipped with a pile of adhesive foam to pack into your battery box. I installed it out the box it came in last spring, ran it all year and the bike started after a few kicks on Saturday. I have never charged it yet and the headlight is bright and the signals operate as fast as they aver have.

I forgot to mention that my T500 now has a Shorai. It weighs ounces. I will never go back to a lead acid battery again.

I have Shorai batteries in four other bikes and they have been great. I like the foam packing, it works for other stuff too. I needed to do a little better job of testing the voltage output the first time and I wouldn't have ruined another $150 battery.
