I'm no expert but I just had part number 5 butt check. Grandfather died of colon cancer and I don't plan to. Now that they changed the anesthesia to Propofol the recovery is amazing. Out like a light and you don't wake up groggy and without postoperative nausea and vomiting. Now I know why M. Jackson loved it. Git R done....

I've had two of them with no drugs at all, it's no big deal, and I drove myself home immediately after.

Rod, I'm not in a position to yell "socialism", now that we have our new health care system, but from what I've read, that 1.5% tax funds only a small part of your system, and most of the rest comes out of general taxation. Australia seems to devote about 9% of its GDP to health care, which is about 1/2 of what we do here, so you guys are doing something right.

And congratulations for your recovery, I've seen too many cases with the other ending. May you have many happy years ahead!

These type of threads get my high blood pressure going even higher. find you one of those independant labs that will do your blood work for 50$ and then send you the report.

most policies should have a clause in which preventative care ( annual physicals, bloodwork ) is paid as preventative and should be free. pennies on the dollar for the insurance companies.

several advisories tell you to ask ahead of time the costs and once you find a low cost alternative then someone inside the entire process will still find a way to tack on an exorbitant cost somewhere along the line. find you a cheaper doctor?.. sure then the cost of the labs will be way out of line.. find you a cheaper hospital? then the doctor's services will be way out of line.

find you a place that will do a 150$ X-ray? then it will cost you a thousand to have a doctor to look at that X-ray.

a colonoscopy is preventative and cheap.. until they find a polyp and it all of a sudden becomes diagnostic and applies to your deductable..costing you thousands..

dentists want to do full mouth x-rays every 6 months.. you just have to tell them no...

cyst on your kidney? first an X-ray.. can't see anything, so need a cat scan.. can't find anything, then do an MRI, after all that and meeting my 2000 deductable, lets just watch it yearly and see if it grows. why not go straight to the MRI, the best tool there is... no, the Xray technicians have a boat payment to make...

mom had an ache in her back.. lets open her up and chisel a sample.. lose the sample, open her up again for another sample.. seems to be the most common old lady bone problem.. osteoporosis... prescribe generic celebrex, problem solved after thousands in lab and diagnostic fees.... idiots...

This was my experience as well (2 years ago)
The time distortion is unbelievable; when I woke up I thought I had been under 10 seconds and could not understand why I changed rooms without the procedure
The anesthesiologist said that modern health care was not going to cover his bill in the future including epidurals for baby delivery

Hey, Thanks, Jim! Yeah, it's a complex subject, and I carry Private Health Cover as well. I believe our system works relatively well when I hear some of the stories from other Countries, but I guess nothing is perfect!

If GoPros get a little smaller you won't even need to go to the doctor!

Before the procedure, I had my wife write "Exit Only" on my butt cheeks with a sharpie. After the procedure, the entire staff had signed their names on my butt with the phrase "Not Today!" I think they even had the janitor sign my butt because there were a lot of signatures. So much for modesty
