1985 Yamaha XJ750 Maxim. 6500 miles, Sat since 2007. It belongs to one of my farm partners, a dear friend. I have fought this SOB now for close to a year trying to get it to start and run reliably. Cleaned and cleaned and cleaned the carbs and gas tank. Everything passes air. Today after putting the carbs back on for the 3rd time, I discovered the root of the starving for gas and dirt not varnish or rust... dirt in the float bowls. Took main feed fuel rubber hose and immersed it in the parts washer and cleaned the (insert expletive) dirt dauber nest out...
Now she runs like a champ. Funny thing is I blew air through that line 10 times if I did it once...
My partner is a happy camper :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead
I am just happy to have figured it out...
The RD 350 was rode :D :D , wheelies were pulled
