I drive the heck out of it, and enjoy it very much. I'm only the 3rd owner, the lady I bought it from bought it used in 1974. It's actually kind of rare because it's an almost zero option car. It's base model everything except for the AM/FM radio(AM only was standard). It's 95% original and unrestored(the original paint is crazed and flaked off the hood and deck), and very rust free. The wheels and exhaust I added myself(because C3 Vettes are supposed to have Torque Thusts and sidepipes :D ), and the front bumper skin is new(the original was missing when I got it).

It's a fun toy, but in the end it's just a banged up old Chevrolet...

Didn't some of those early Corvettes have transverse leaf-springs on the rear....? (No Google involved, here!) :D

Yes, and there is only 1 "spring".

Yup, '63-'82 all used the same basic chassis with some minor changes through the years. It uses a single transverse leaf spring in back. Depending on the model and options, there are between 7 and 9 steel leaves in the spring pack(composite monoleafs didn't show up until the '84 body style). One of the weak points of the '63-'80('81-'82 had a revised rear mount) is that the spring bolts to the diff cover, and if you hit the suspension hard enough(like going over train tracks to fast, or sometimes even a really big pothole) the mount ears crack off the diff cover. In fact, mine had been cracked, welded back on, and cracked again when I bought it. Fortunately, I caught it before catastrophic failure. An upgraded aftermarket cover is available, and at 20 lbs of cast iron, if probably the worlds heaviest diff cover

Jeff, was the composite mono leafs an option or supplied from the aftermarket for the stingrays. I remember working at a service station ears ago and a mono spring was getting put back into a vette. I am almost (in fact fully) positive that it was a stingray and not a c4. I can't remember if it was a new spring getting replaced or if it was the old one just put for repairs on something else.

All '63-'79 used steel springs, '80-'82 composite was optional. Late spring into early car swaps aren't unheard of, and the aftermarket has been selling monoleafs practically since their invention.
