Came across this topic about 2 vs. 4 stroke dirtbikes on one of the other forums I belong to.
Of course Cody's infamous KH750 came up (user googled, copied and pasted image) to thread, stories followed about other triple stories.....

Word for the wise, not exactly the most family friendly or WS board.

I've got a really nice CR500 - arm puller. Love it - would make a great moto bike.

poor guys, they will never know the thrill of a two stroke (meanss the four stroke fans on the other forum)

I like the line about the 2 stroke being quicker but not as fast on the track as the 4 stroke...
It would have been more accurate to say, I can't ride worth a crap so 2 strokes are out of the question!

A couple of years ago I rebuilt/restored a '89 CR500R, I used my 2 stroke experience to make sure it ran the best it could, complete engine rebuild, 2 stage reeds, and so on....

I have owned a number of big bore 2 stroke MXers back in the day, TM400, RM370, MX360, etc..

I thought after riding a worn CR500R that these things are pups, fast but then so is my XR650R.

Well, first time down the block on a fresh motored CR500R, I knew I had made a big mistake, never did the thing stop trying to kill me, straight up in 4th gear, upshifting 2 gears on a jump approach so the thing would not hit the powerband and loop me off.

Every time I came back from a near death experience, I was tied in knots, I could not get the kidney belt tight enough....

My XR650R with a Power-Up kit is probably as fast, but it ain't that kind of fast.

2 strokes & 4 strokes.

I've ridding a lot of motocross and hare scrambles on many different bikes. Honda's, Yamaha's, KTM's Kawi's, 125, 250 & open, KX's CR's YZ's KDX's, etc. I always set my fastest times on a KX125, even in Hare Scrambles. I enjoyed riding the KDX in Hare Scrambles over the KX, but I was always slower. I was a lot lighter (thinner) then. I, however, have not ridden a late model 4-stroke. The numbers don't lie, but it is difficult for me to understand how the 4-strokes can compete. I will give one a try some day.
