I'll keep an eye out for a metal valve and cover then, I've read reports of the fiber ones disintegration over time. The next question is what fits? Since Kawasaki used this same basic engine across many years and models, will any of the similar type 100CC parts fit, or do I need to look for something more specific?

That's a sharp looking bike you've got there. I especially like the rear shocks with the covered springs and color matched forks. If I ever decide to modify my bike from stock, those are going to be the first two changes

I finally found a use for one of my Uni pre-filters left over from the H1. The gauze air cleaner is a bit degraded, with some spots of bare screen. A new filter is $20, and I don't plan on doing much dusty off roading. It occurred to me that a Uni pre-filter would slip right over the stock filter, and still slip into the can. I had to trim the top off a bit, and it fits perfectly under the stock cover. I oiled it very well with Amsoil foam filter oil so it does some filtering, and no one will ever know it's there
