I found something out this year about NC that I didn't like. I registered and titled two bikes this year and had to get them inspected by the state. These were bikes with clean out of state titles but because they were older bikes they had to be inspected by the state. They are really getting picky. I know that they are checking the vin numbers to make sure everything matches but a title without the frame is virtually useless. I just thought it was a little over the top being that I had good titles on both bikes. One was Illinois and the other Virginia.

I heard it has to do with some fraud that a police chief in/near Raleigh got caught at. Antique vehicles from out of state that are being registered in NC for the first time have to be inspected, as you found out. I've had it done, and it was really only to verify that the motorcycle you're applying for a title for really exists as you're describing it. Very low key.
