For Jim in N.C. - Between the earthquake and the approaching cyclone, how are things in N.C. - not slowing down pipe-production I hope! Cheers from Aus!

Not Jim, but Mike in Wilmington, NC The Cape "Fear". Rain bands are starting at least it's picked up speed the sooner it's by I can start the damage assesments. I Also have a little place near Swansboro, NC which is near ground zero. The last time one hit there my boat dock was 2 feet under water.
Mike of the Cape Fear

Jim should be OK he's a a t least 150 miles from the coast.

Rod, thanks for asking... Mike's right, the guys at the coast are in for a storm, but we have a chance of rain, and will get some light winds, like gusting to 40 mph. The current prediction is not good for the Outer Banks of NC or Wilmington, and Mike, be safe!

For those who may feel the impact of Irene and have no experience with a storm like this....
Power outage for a long period and falling trees are the worst problems.
If power is out credit cards don't work... get plenty of cash in hand.
Gas pumps won't work so fill up.
Get candles and/or aux generators w/fuel.
Fill bath tubs.
Have propane or charcoal for grills... meat in freezers won't last long.
Don't park vehicles near trees.
Don't count on FEMA.

I don't think we will get anything here except some rain and wind, if the storm stays on its projected track, but I am prepped except for 10 gallons of generator gas. The generator is preflighted and cords are at the ready. If my sorry arse 18 year old son ever gets out of bed, (IT IS 1540 HRS.) I will try to show him for about the 10th time how to start it and string the cords. It has nothing to do do with facebook or the xbox 360 so I doubt he will absorb it. The Bridal Unit is still sprawled in bed too while I sweat my arse off outside as ususal. :banghead :banghead :banghead It seems they would at least come and check to see if I am alive or need a drink of water when it is 90 degrees outside, but that won't happen.
I am done venting now back to work as 0400 will come early and I still have to do a long overdue oil change in the Battle Golf and go to to town and get gas.

Tim, how were things around your place earthquake-wise? You were a lot close than I was, and it shook the house in an obvious way here.
