I was just taking to Taner at Z1 parts today about the aftermarket throttle cables. Jess buys his from Taner
as does some of the other venders. From what I can tell the outer housings seem the right length but the cable
lengths are wrong. Has anyone here had issues with aftermarket throttle cables for H2's?

The throttle cable I got fro Reproductions fit nicely except for the pump cable which was too short on the inner cable.
I had to grind away the boss to get the pump to close up to the marks. Other than that it works nice.

I bought a repro cable from Jess and had to return it. The left carb cable was a too short to allow free play in the cable. It would cause the left cyl to idle faster. I measured each of the 3 lengths and they were all 3 different. The cable was barely usable but would have worked in a pinch. I then purchased the Doremi cable from Johnny Bova and MUCH better quality and it all measured the same!!

I am going to test one today and see how it works. Trying to find a NOS cable to do some comparisons to
to make sure what needs to be changed and these repo's.

I installed the aftermarket throttle cable today. This is about the six 72-3 H2 I have done and the first I paid much
attention to the throttle cable lengths. I see that all 3 carb cables are different lengths and guessed the shortest
goes to the center carb. Then the longest to the left and middle length to the right? The longest carb inner cable
is to short by about 7mm. That would be inline what I have heard from a few other guys too. Z1 parts is
going to correct this problem as soon as I can find a NOS cable to confirm the difference. I my own H2 I have a NOS
cable but run 34mm carbs and the inner cables where too short and I just modded the top of the carbs. The 72 I'm working on had a aftermarket cable installed when I took the bike in for repair and it's not the same lengths as the
new one either.

Aftermarket throttle cables seem to consistently have correct length problems.
Be nice if Taner could get originals for all the models to reproduce. The H1 cable I purchased from him was fine at the carbs, but long at the oil pump. It works, but the adjuster is at it's limit. Any stretch and I'm out of luck. Hopefully they have the corrected lengths in the near future.
On another topic, I saw the 73 H2 you dialed in for him. Nice job Ron. I was supposed to go for a ride with Burak, but he said he couldn't start it. I went to his home after we grabbed a bite (he drove his truck) and after attempting to get it started, I felt he was just simply out of gas. He's been busy lately, which is a bummer, as we wanted to attend the Vintage Meet together on Sunday in Huntington. Maybe next month. I'll hand off my original H1 cable to him when I see him. Doesn't help with your 72/73 H2 needs, but us H1 guys need some love too! Can't wait to hear the "loud" H2 as well.
