I'm also on the blocked list and have never met the man. He must have an axe to grind with a member here and decided to punish many in mass.

About 15yr ago, or so, there was a thread on the KTWW board about an agreement between members not to bid against one another. Fran apparently took exception to this and banned all KTWW members from his auctions.
I tried to make contact with him about it and emails were ignored. I always thought it was like shooting yourself in the foot to make a point :?

Thanks Dale.
I had forgotten that detail and I still think it's a good idea.
In a previous post I had suggested that we consider the same.
There was a factory cut away enigne that RB would have paid big money for.
A guy on one of the boards bid it up to $2K; he never had a chance.
If we worked together (and quit posting every eBay add for the horders; if a guy really needs that part he is watching) between the baords we could potentially lower the price of triple parts.

There are not that many guys that buy tripls parts that aren't on a board (including trollers those who never post).

If you were selling a bike and everyone interested got together and colluded to only offer low ball amounts,

HOW WOULD YOU FEEL ? ? ? ? ?
Aint saying Frans actions were proper and not defending what he did.
Just sayin, if you cant realize why he was pissed, you do not own a business.
OR, you dont mind giving folks a stupid deal because you know them.
Even if it hurts your bottom line.

Get real, most of you guys would piss and moan forever.
In fact, a lot of you still do in regards to the blocking thing.

So if you never got mad and made a hasty decision like he did, may the good lord bless you.

Im guessing most of us missed that boat.....

Just my not so humble opinion.
And I do give board members deals.
Ask anyone I have dealt with here.

A long time ago when the ebay blocking occurred, I just sent him a message asking to unblock me so I could bid on some stuff and he did. and I won. He had nice parts and no amount of collusion is going to deter serious buyers. The guy has been a triples fanatic for the last 40 years and I think we should treat him as such. He has made many contributions to the hobby and deserves some credit. Even if RB fed him info for the newsletter, so what? The guy went to the trouble to put together a newsletter and mail it to desperate triple fanatics everywhere. I give respect.

I would be great if amends could be made. He was so excited to show me his collection and talk to me about his love for triples.

I bought some really nice pipes from Fran about a year ago. I was a member on the old site and never got blocked. About a month ago he sent me a NOS brochure and answered my ebay question last weekend about one of his ebay parts...

Nobody ever mentioned colluding together to only low ball.
More like, I've got X to spend, if you are going to offer X + Y, I'll stay out of your way.
Definitely not about rider bikes but rather highly collectable items with only a few possible buyers.

Happens all the time in other specialty sales amongst collectors.
The guys that buy and sell vintage guitars (in the $30K - 100K range) , 55-57 restored concourse quality T-birds, some specialty aircraft, some of the restored Hemi crowd, etc.
It's all about supply and demand as well as biding against people in the industry that also buy and sell at a high level.

Collusion:

Collusion is an agreement between two or more parties, sometimes illegal and therefore secretive, to limit open competition by deceiving, misleading, or defrauding others of their legal rights, or to obtain an objective forbidden by law typically by defrauding or gaining an unfair market advantage

Was I mistaken Jim?
My only point is that "I" too, would be pissed if any of you guys decided to not bid on my auctions if anyone else on the forums told you not to bid on an item to keep the price low.
Anyone who does not understand that, never relied on the auctions as a major contributor of their income.
I like giving folks a break and I always try to work with folks for deals.
But I draw the line and dishonest paractices that hurt my bottom line.

RANT OVER

sorry.
