I placed a lengthy post on trouble shooting section titled 74H1, for some background. I am working on a carb issue, on which Mraxl and Jim from looney cylinders has helped greatly. I am just wondering with an all stock bike and air system, and all stock jetting 30 pilot 92.5 mains float at 25mm, etc. What are other owners of H1's running as far as needle clip position and air screw position? In order for mine to run somewhat well (by no means perfect) #1 clip position and almost 3 turns out on air screw. Any replys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Robert TN

Anything over 2 turns out, the air screw will likely fall out. In the carb tuning section there is a test to find out what size pilot you need. And that needle setting is scary lean, did you happen to use rebuild kits in your carbs?

H1F All stock except for pod filters. Stock pipes with baffles.
97.5 mains
Clip in middle position
Stock pilot jet size (30)
Air screws out ~1-1/4 turns
Float height 30mm
Running 10% ethanol gas.
I have no complaints with how it runs. I've run the crap out of it for over 2 years and it ran well at the gap. But I am no expert, so others on this site are probably better references.

Did you rebuild the carbs with carb kit parts ? Only good carb parts are genuine Mikuni. I tried to run carb kit jet needles and they look sort of like Mikuni, but ran like crap. Also did you check the needle jets (emulsion tubes) to make sure they are clean and
the correct size? If your running the air screws 3 turns, larger pilot or something is still clogged up. Did you make sure the timing
is spot on too? It helps when chasing a carb issue you only make one change at a time. I always mark the throttle with tape and
marks so I can see how far the slide is up so I now what circuit has the problem.

sounds like a clogged emulsion tube or air jet to me. needle should be in middle. pull the emulsion tubes and clean them, and make sure the air jet sprays all the way through clean.
