I had a 2-stroke Saab between 77-82 or 83. It was a 3 carbs 850 cc Sport model and quite amazing small car, especially in winters. Never was stuck in snow, it was like a sled - undercarriage was just sheet metal from bumper to bumper, engine bay was not open under the motor. It had so called "free" clutch or overrunning clutch, do not know the right word but it was a free roller when you lifted the gas pedal up. So no engine seizures, 4% oil mix was preferable. Loved it.

My late friend Roger Crowe was a mechanic, a damned good one. He was the first person in Whittier, California to have a first year H1. He was the tech at Scandia Motors there for many years, and he got me two Saab's over the years, both free. One is a premix 96 model 3 cylinder, the other is an oil injection Monte Carlo 3 cylinder. These things are built like tanks, they just don't quit.

I always thought that the Saab Sonnett was a fun car, but, had a really weak 110 degree V4, 4 stroke in it. What would have made it real fun would have been a hopped up Monte Carlo oil injected engine and 5 speed.

About a year ago, a person that lives in Fernley showed up at my place, with is 96, and we went over it, got it running great.
