They look to be functionally the same, restorers would insist on having the correct code for the bike. If any have steel slides do some research, there was a recall, but I think they were all H2 marked.

Steel slides as in the silver ones, And why was the recall.

The original carbs with the steel slides would break the guide pin. This would allow the slide to spin a little and hang up at full throttle. That is why the recall. The updated carbs have slides that are not compatible with the early carbs body.

Silver metal coated brass slides, not steel, was in a rush this morning.
Both the Plastic and brass pins locating slides can fail, with light or heavy slides and quite scary consequences. I restake the pins as a matter of course when redoing carbs having had one go on me before. The recall was regarding needles breaking and being half digested by the engine

That IS what it says on the recall sheet :eh: However, I have never come across an engine that digested the needle, nor have I come across any dealer from back in the day that rebuilt an engine because of this  I Think the first mod was to replace the slides and then they just replaced the entire Carb - All Models after "H2"would have the anodised slides
