The power of Google is much greater than my flimsy memory, so thanks for the look up. I do now recall the "he could have drowned" part.

Your memory is better than mine then. All I remembered was that he didn't make it to the far side.

If you look at the footage, the shoot came out almost during lift off. The story I hear, is he freaked any pulled it.

And I guess he was more "entertaining" to others. I just couldn't take anyone serious jumping a Harley.......... :wtf:

i read an article a few years back about his golf exploits in vegas.
he is a good golfer and likes to bet but wont suffer cheats.
there was an incident were he connered an opponent he suspected of cheating ,showed him his handgun that he kept in the golfbag and the matter was resolved .
he also jumped a golf cart over a bunker for a bet with his unaware wife ridding shotgun.
we need characters like this.

Here's the snake river and the sky cycle , I bet twenty dollars (big money to a 12 year old in 1974) to a neighborhood kid that Evel would at least attempt the jump/launch I really did not consider the Sky cycle anything more than a rocket had doubts on the out come but no doubts that Evel the fearless one would press the launch button and go for a wild ride

Evil was in my town, Fort Lauderdale back in the 70's. He was in his boat waiting for a bridge to open, he thought it was taking too long, so he got out of his boat, then beat the crap out of the bridge tender and got arrested. I had thought about doing that myself more than a few times.
