Happy New Year everyone! I have a question about tires. What would be the problem with running a front tire on the rear of a motorcycle? I realize some front tires have a tread pattern that you wouldn’t want to use on the rear. In the case with a tread pattern that is somewhat close to the rear tread pattern, such as a Dunlop D404, would it make any sort of difference? Reason I’m asking is I need a smaller rear tire than most companies offer for their rear tires. Also, just curious what you guys think about it.

I'd probably avoid it, but there's a bunch of supermoto guys who run BT-45 front tires on the rear. In that case the front and rear tread patterns are nothing alike, too.

In my case, both tires would be the exact same tread pattern. As it is, both the front and rear tires are pretty close in tread pattern.
