Post subject:  750 tripple H2B Cylinder question

I am rebuilding my tipple 750 H2B and would like to ask if anyone knows where I can find the bore specifications for the cylinders. I would like to re bore them before re assembly (if needed). Also would like to know where I can best buy new oversize pistons etc should I re bore/hone and what are the over bore piston sizes available. Any information in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Karl.

Specs are here: http://kawatriple.com/motorspec.html
Oversize bore depends on choice of pistons. Wossner pistons are preferred. Each manufacturer has they're recommendations.

I just measured my cylinder bore and found the next oversize and ordered those pistons. Had a good machine shop do the work. I think the clearance was around .002" - .004". Sounds tight but that's what I read.

I think the oversizes go up in .5 mm steps.

Dave

PS, I went with Wossners.

Good choice, Wossners are superior to Wiseco pistons.

I wouldn't go as big as 0.004". Wössner includes clearance information. Don't let the shop talk you into making the clearance bigger for the center cylinder. I've never had a set of cylinders bored and not had the shop offer to do that like they're doing you a favor.

What Jim said. I think the clearance is around .002" but research it, don't go off what I think. One of my H2 engines has a set of Wossners with several thousand miles on it and there is no audible piston slap. I love it.

Older post.
I have the hot rod at .055".

Lot's of warm up before riding!

Wiesco's are not perfect and forged, so .0033" is apropos.

Wossners are damn perfect forged slugs. Recommended is .0026/.0028".

Yes, these differences make a huge result.

Tighter and correct (cold) pistons last longer(rings)
No piston slap.

Loose slugs are noisey cold, but do not sieze if warmed up good.
Way down on friction by approx. 5hp.

Loose clearances rock the skirts enough to wear out the rings and collapse skirts in a short time.
