Waiting for a set of chambers to arrive from us, if they are as nice in the flesh as they look on the site it will be a pity to cover with chrome as any one had any luck with just covering with laquer cheers ray goddard

I have used clear coat on the chambers on my 400 Ray.It is not as robust as paint or chrome though, certainly for somebody who rides as much as you :)

The black bbq paint from b&q is very good and long lasting.

Some guys just use "Mop N Glow" floor finisher and it lasts a good long while.
When it starts looking crappy you just apply a new coat.
You can eliminate the blackening from welding with a 3M scrubber type wheel in an angle grinder first for a cleaner look too.

Rust on bear metal is suppose to eventually show through the clear coat, you basically have a window as to whats going on behind the coat. Do you see any signs and how long has it been??

That's the beauty of mop'n glo over clear coat... It only lasts for a season but you can get them back to looking good again with a scotch bright pad soaked in WD-40 in about 15 minutes of massaging. :)
