Hi guys,

I'm joining the club, should be picking up (what I think is) a 75 H1. I'm excited, I had several 2 strokers back when I was younger including an S3 and a couple of RDs.

Anyway, my first question is can someone tell me the overall length of that bike? I'm planning my trip to go get it and would hate to get there and find it won't fit.

Thanks,
Owen

Overall length is about 80", give or take.

Hi Owen, nice to meet you. An early H1 rolling chassis I have here is about 7'2" long. We'll be interested in your progress, and we love to see photos.

If using a van, it'll fit but you'll likely need to remove the mirrors and turn down the handlebars, while leaning the bike to fit under the rear roofline. In a truck, just leave the gate down unless you have a long bed.

Using 2 framing squares, my 1975 H1 measures 7'-0.5" (84-1/2") from front tire (3.50x19) tip to rear tailight reflectors (the longest point) ;)

Thanks for the help. I'm still working out my transportation, I may rent a trailer and the length is important for that.

Is it bad that I'm looking at stuff I could buy on the Internet and I don't even know what's wrong with the bike yet?

Nope, it means you're excited about the project. Where do you live? (Add at least a state or region for your location in your board profile when you have a chance)

Haha! Wow, jumping the gun huh? you can spend hours looking for stuff. I'd start here though. Lots of guys have extra parts/widgets laying around and won't stiff you like fleabay.
Start figuring on how much ($) you want to put into the project, 'cause it can add up quickly!

Welcome to the board. And as Jim mentioned, make sure you post pics of the progress...
