Hi, A friend of mine found a 1970 H1 with a 148xx frame and a 161xx engine. the engine has both right and left cylinders marked 498cc, but is this numerical difference between the chassis and the engine normal, or has the engine been replaced? if so, what difference in numbering should there be for the right engine on that chassis n 148xx??
thank you in advance
Paola

It depends on the model and year.
There was a recall on some euro early H1 engines to replace CDI with points.
Things like that disrupt serial# differences.

ah lo and behold, the points ignition for the French market! how many things I learn!
therefore I can assure my friend that he can proceed with the purchase as the engine corresponds.
