I've got a few bikes I want to add braided lines to and I've been disappointed with some of the per-assembeled stuff that I've bought over the years (not to mention the prices) and I figured I'd build my own. Did some research and it looks simple enough once you have the parts. Can anybody recommend a good source (or sources) for the lines and fittings?

Thanks

I built mine from Dennis Kirk parts; quality is very good and prices seemed fair.

For stainless braided lines, GT Autosport has treated me well. They had an ebay store, but it looks like he hasn't been doing that recently. Best bet is to call or email him and skip ebay all together.

For correct flare nuts, this is the only place I could find
http://www.fedhillusa.com/

They have 3/16" tubing called Cunifer that is "as strong as steel and completely rust proof". A little pricey, but available in coils as short as 6'. Also comes with helpful info on making correct flares, etc.

There are a lot of race shops etc that sell Earls stuff. I had one make up lines using Earls parts, but they sell whatever you need.

Good stuff. Thanks gents. I stumbled on the Dennis Kirk section and it seems straightforward pretty fairly priced. They've got a 12 ft length of line for $72 which would cover 2 bikes easy and all the fittings you'd need for fair prices.

Quick question. Do I want to stick with 10mm on everything? I've noticed a lot of 1/8" stuff on different sites which I'm guessing is sized for the Harley and automotive crowd?

I looked into it years ago myself, after looking at quality tooling and materials I gave up as too expensive - for all the bits needed I could "buy" a lot of lines for the cost.

What I have done and what Earls site shows is Goodridge products. You can pre-order the size and fittings you want, or like me a trip to the local bike shop and they make up the line (using Goodridge parts) to my desired length.

If you do like I did - for a few pennies more, get the 600 Series "reusable". Means you will then have your choice of fittings and angles to choose from and Goodridge has a ton of distributers and sources for them.

I did some bars on my daily rider back in 2007 and was not sure how the lines would route, I bought a couple of different angles, ended up using a 30degree but I've not had a single problem now in close to 5 years and the lines look great. I have these two left over but I'm sure I'll use them some day.

Hey Steve, I had a shop in Atlanta that does only brake and fluid lines make up a few sets for me a few years ago.
I sent him a stock H1 line with a half dozen original coil springs from OEM hoses and they came out great.
Not too pricey either as I remember.
Added a NOS rubber boot and you couldn't tell them from genuine Kaw lines.
Only they were new and a much better quality hose.
PM me if you want the shops info.

That's what I bought from Dennis Kirk; really easy to make custom Braded SS lines (with clear plastic cover) with re-usable fittinge
