Any tried and true method of unsticking gummed and corroded carbs ? So far after 3 days in carb cleaner, they look better but the slides are still stuck. I have also tried various lubricants but no go so far. I do have some evaporust that I plan on soaking next. Don't have any spares so I'm having to deal with what I got. Thanks.

Have you tried lacquer thinner or acetone?

Not yet Jim but I will add that to the process. Thanks for the suggestion.

If it's stuck with varnish from old fuel, either of those solvents should soften it.

Yeah, it's mainly old fuel varnish.

Acetone and/or laquer thinner has ways worked for me. You might have to soak the carbs for a bit, though.

That's 2 votes acetone. :D I'll pick some up and give it a go. Not in a rush just yet.

Got 2 out. 1 still stuck. I'll add heat to the process. Thanks Johnny.

Victory. Got the 3rd carb unstuck. Now I get to try out my new ultrasonic cleaner.
