"sketchy" for sure. No I would not fly an ancient flathead, maybe a newer engine. In all fairness notice the gear reduction prop planes turn a very low rpm.

I would, but I would re-rig the entire plane as far as control surfaces and supporting hardware.

Good point... an engine quitting is bad, but not as bad as losing control!
