I've been looking around for engine parts and noticed an odd trend. There seems to be an inordinate number of 750 engine cases available, especially compared to cranks and trans gear sets. I would think that if people are building race engines or repairing old engines there would be a lot of heads and jugs available, parts that might be upgraded, but why engine cases? Shouldn't the case be the basis for builds or rebuilds? Just curious. On my way to build my bike from scratch. Thanks, Dave |

I would guess it's because cranks, gear sets and cylinders are consumables and have a limited lifespan, but the crankcases don't have many issues that does them in. I bought a new set of crankcases for my H1 years ago, ($283 NZ) because the ones I had were destroyed from a crash that put the front wheel into the case front mount web and smashed it. But that sort of thing isn't a common problem. |
