Hello all,
I have owned a few Tripples since the late '80s, however it was a few Suzuki GT380's.
Having owned Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha. This year I picked up a Kawasaki H2 by accident. Last year I sold what I thought was my final motorcycle.
Shortly after selling it, my friend told me he was telling a friend about my GT380. His friend mentioned he had a 1972 Kawasaki H2 that he had bought new. Back in 1977 he took the bike apart to have it painted.
Fast forward to this year. My friend asked him what he was doing with the Kawasaki, and he said he was not sure. A couple weeks later when they were talking again, the owner asked my friend if he thought I could get the bike running. My friend assured him I could.
Believe it or not, he gave the bike to my friend and I. :o My friend said I could have it outright, but I could not accept that. I told him what it was worth and that he would be half owner.
Let the build begin.

Hi Yeddy, welcome to the board! I don't think I'd be up for a half-owner deal, but that doesn't mean you can't make it work. :) Good luck with the build.

In case you haven't found it yet: http://www.kawatriple.com

Welcome. You can't have just one Kawasaki. They tend to multiply until the wife says "enough!".

Thanks Jim, I found that to be a great link. I have a very unique connection with my partner. I am one of his fathers best friends, and we spend a lot of time together. His father owns a local Service Station, and I spend a lot of time there since I retired. My partner was offered $3500 as he was loading it into his pick up truck, and $5000 a few days later. How could I not keep him as half owner when he offered it to me for being there helping his dad whenever he needed it. Needless to say, he was quite shocked at what they go for now, but still wanted me to have it.
The bike is not for long term ownership. I am going to build it to very good condition, we will ride it a bit and go to some car and bike meets and probably sell it in a year or two.
It was tough for me this past summer selling my GT380. I had ridden that thing endless miles since I was 17. I raced it at Loudon and Brigehampton. It just seemed time to move it to a good home after 2 hip replacements and numerous other health issues. The Kawasaki was not something I was looking for, but it happened to find it's way to my door step looking for help.
My GT at the track, and final version with my Nephew and his Honda CB350 Four.

Reading this, the song from the band "Queen," popped in my head, "Another one FIGHTS the dust! And another ones back, and another ones back, another one fights the dust.

Interesting news from friend that bought my Suzuki GT 380. He tells me it is now in the museum Motorcyclepedia.
I am going to visit this weekend.

Great story and yes, that H2 is a valuable motorcycle even in that condition.

Have you tore it down yet?
