Well it work for now? I know the 5/8 was for dual disc but it is what I have for now. I need to try to rebuild the original master but not sure when I will get to it. Any down side to using larger master?

It'll work, but will take more lever force for a given amount of stopping than the smaller one.

I'll stick with the 1/2 then. Went to garage and managed to get the guts out of the thing, not usually successful at that. Dug around and found a rebuild kit. Hope it's not to old will try to get it together next weekend. Decided to rebuild caliper as well since I am at it. The bike has not moved in 20 years now. May put the dual disc on it someday I guess

Very good. I'm sure the old rebuild kit will be fine.

You probably know about using a single disk and an EX caliper. The original single disk masters were 9/16". I went from dual disk and 5/8" master to a single EX caliper and a 1/2" (12.7mm) eBay master cylinder with a built in switch to get rid of the pressure switch in the line, and I like it a lot better than the dual setup. It also lightened the unsprung front end weight by 10 lbs.!

I did that, bought the 5/8" cylinder and used the stock single caliper. Intended to fit dual calipers, but thought i'd ride it like that for awhile. Scared the crap out of me, just couldn't stop the bike in any reasonable time.
