There is a thread on the Canadian board where a couple of guys claim to have put 7000 & 4800 miles on H2B's without any top end oiling and void of any ill effects. No carb oil lines nor drilled oil passages.
Not being that familiar with other two strokes, I'm curious to know if any Yam, Suzi, etc 2-strokes rely on just crankcase oiling for topend?

It shouldn't be much different from running premix, since everything that goes into the bottom end eventually gets up to the top end. The advantage to putting some oil into the intake tract is that when the pump opens to increase oiling, it gets into the incoming mixture and to the piston fast. That's why I like the early oil system better than the late one that puts oil in the float bowls, adding a lot of delay.

works fine, yamahas put them into the intake. the next place it goes is the crankcase, then the topend. no issues.
