I had a great steet race back in early Seventies with a Z1 , on a forest road with a long uphill corner at the end , when we both stopped at lights my H2 to was not smoking ! ( been thrashed ) , the Z1 was puffing heaps of blue smoke out the pipes (oil in air filter box ), next day at work ( bike shop ) the guy turned up to get his bike checked as he thought he'd blown it up !!   racing a guy on a really fast H2 !!!, I told him it was me and we had a great talk and I explained how the oil had got into the air filter and it would be ok , good old times

A tuned H2 would (should) smoke a 600.
I was staying with a R6 on the track with my 500, sure he got a couple of lengths going through the gears from 20-100 mph but I was able to make up the distance easily out braking him.
I've ridden a CBR600 as well, that bike would need to keep the revs up to keep up as well.
My bike is a fair bit lighter than a H2 though, likely levels the field a bit as well.

I believe this was due to you being a better rider!
All the newer 600's are over 100hp, at full boil. A tuned H2 is about the same and with similar weight.

I smoked an early 90's honda f2 and I am a VERY large and weigh my poor H2 down bad!!
I think he was a bit freaked out by the exhaust note by the way he slowed down as he passed me after the shenanigans!

For sure I was more daring in the corners but going from 1st to 5th down a straight is a drag race imo.
I have witnesses that he was hitting his rev limiter on shifts. Try out a 600 sometime, you might find you opinion changes about how quick they are.
BTW the guy did mention to me that it was pretty unnerving to hear me on his tail! It was a rush for both us for sure!

A stock R6 can do a quarter mile around 11.2 seconds, to put it in perspective.

That's about the same as my 1200 Bandit so that makes sense.

Ya but you don't need to downshift your Bandit to pass!
