History is history. It is quite possible a Mustang was shot down by a Japanese plane. I doubt it, but hey.

My Dad told me that when he was POW, the American food was bad.
The Italians convinced them to just give them the raw food, they would cook it themselves.
Soon afterward, the American officers were eating the food the POW's cooked!

BTW - Been thinking of my father today as it is his birthday. Sadly, he passed five years ago and sorely missed. He was a good man, bought me my first motorcycle, a Suzuki 250 X6 Hustler!

What amazes me is the "ripple" affects that war and that generation on all sides of the situation has/had on everything, it is still a defining moment even with so many years gone by.

It was strange going to a WWII memorial/museum with a Japanese guy when I was in Japan. We didn't say much.

to be expected being at a WWII memorial in Japan and being an American and a laguage barrier too.

There are WWII memorials all over the former East Berlin , they were built by the Soviets before the cold war ended, one of the memorials is the Soviet version of the tomb of the unknown soldier, many of the Germans simply call it the Tomb of the Unknown Rapist , talk about a ripple effect
