If worse comes to worse, I can have the top support welded like the one on the bottom. That would probably shore it up a bit.

Is there a way to "soft mount" the cans with strong springs, so the vibration won't transfer to the pipe? |

Unfortunately not with the way these pipes are built without needing major alterations. I did get it welded again this morning and they told me they had to make 3 passes to get it shut. After he welded the crack, it cracked again right beside it i reckon from the heat and metal expansion of the weld. If it cracks again, I may have to gusset it or cut some plate to go over the whole end from half the cone to the mount. Weird thing is only this one pipe is affected. The other two have been fine. |

Whenever I set a set of pipes up as far as mounting, I make sure the pipe itself can move in all directions freely when mounted up. If not, there will be a conflict in that the pipe fights one mounting style, free at the adapter on the engine, and fully tight, or severely compromised at its rear, "to frame" mounting. I literally grab the pipe and make sure it is free to move in all directions, not bind up in any direction, no matter if the engine is solid, or rubber mounted. The pipes should literally 'free float' on the bike, so stresses are not induced into the pipe metals, and/or welds. |

All three pipes have lots of play and hopefully will avoid another break. The noise is unbearable to me, even on these little 400's. |
