Hi Guys,

I have been looking for a set of chambers for a while and have been offered these for my H2 (1973). The guy says they are Denco's and were off his H1. My questions is will they be suitable for a H2 - 1973? He has asked me to make him an offer - can anyone put some kind of a price on these as they are fairly beat up and will need some fixing which is not much of a problem as I have the facility to do this

Cheers

Gordon

They are not Denco.

I think they might be Denco (but Dale might be right too), but in that rough shape I wouldn't give more that $100 for them..and then after a ton of work (plus buying or making baffles and spigots) you still won't have pipes worth what you have invested in them. If you have a better photo from the side, someone will be able to give you a positive ID on the brand...because if they are indeed Wirges...they're not worth fixing even if they are free.

The left pipe appears to have the remnants of a Denco sticker, and I have a set of early H1 Dencos with similar hangers.

They look like H1 Dencos to me. The hangers are in the wrong place for an H2, and worse, the cone angles and lengths were designed for an H1 engine. H2 Dencos have a different shape, and their silencer cores are larger (although I don't see any silencers in those). This is not to say H1 Dencos will not will not work on an H2... but they won't be as good as H2 chambers.

Mraxl's resource site has a good section for chamber ID: http://3cyl.com/mraxl/partid/chambers/chamberid.htm

Don't feel too bad... It's a lot easier to ID pipes when they're in front of you, or if you have multiple clear photos.

And Argent, if you have the ability to repair that one that's on the left in the photo, you may have the ability to build your own chambers. If you don't want to start from scratch, a cone kit may be in order. Walms sells kits for the WTF pipes, which are excellent, and I can supply a kit for Denco replicas.

Is the main difference just the cone just before the belly section?

Both cones which make the 2-stage diffuser cone are very different. Also, the ID of the silencer is about 1/8" larger on the H2.
